Bar fight results in woman's broken leg, suit claims

A Madison County woman wants to be paid more than $50,000 after her leg was allegedly broken in a bar fight.

Robyn Schmidt filed a lawsuit against Sammi's Prairie Inn Inc. and Sheila M. Hayes March 18 in Madison County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, Schmidt was at the Prairie Inn in November 2010. She says there was a group at the Dorsey bar that was served several drinks and became drunk. Schmidt says a fight then broke out and she had her lower leg broken in the altercation.

Schmidt accuses the Prairie Inn and Hayes of violating Illinois' Dram Shop Act and seeks more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses. loss of income and court costs.

She is represented by attorney Eric J. Carlson of Edwardsville.
