A woman claims she suffered permanent injuries to her left shoulder, left knee, right ankle and lower back after falling at a clothing store.
Maryann Corsa filed a lawsuit March 22 in Madison County Circuit Court against J.C. Penney Corp.
Corsa claims she shopped at the J.C. Penney in the Alton Square Mall on Jan. 18, 2010, when she stepped on an ink dot used to protect clothing from theft. The ink dot stuck in the sole of her shoe, causing her to fall, according to the complaint.
In addition to her injuries, Corsa incurred medical costs and lost wages because of the incident, the suit states.
She blames J.C. Penney for causing her to fall, saying it allowed an ink dot to remain on the floor, failed to pick up the ink dot from the floor and maintained the store in an unsafe and improper manner.
In her complaint, Corsa seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
