Alton bar sued over woman's fall in hole

A woman claims she sustained $5,000 in medical costs and $400 in lost wages after falling in a hole at an Alton lounge.

Angela D. Wojtkowski filed a lawsuit March 10 in Madison County Circuit Court against Terry's Lounge.

Wojtkowski claims she was visiting Terry's Lounge, located at 312 Piasa in Alton, on May 10, 2009, when she fell in a hole on the premises.

Because of her fall, Wojtkowski suffered injuries to her right hand, knees, right wrist, right arm and stomach and sustained a fractured right hand, according to the complaint. In addition to her medical costs and lost wages, she experienced pain, disability and an impaired ability to work, the suit states.

Wojtkowski blames Terry's Lounge for causing her fall, saying it negligently failed to warn her of the hole and failed to barricade the hole.

In her complaint, Wojtkowski seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Mark F. Hayword of the Law Offices of Mark F. Hayword in St. Louis will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-217.
