October trial set in Ford cruise control lawsuit

Ruth

A Madison County suit against Ford Motor Co. over alleged cruise control design defects has a new trial date of Oct. 10.

Plaintiff Brian Williams claims he was injured in a 2005 accident as a result of defects in his Ford truck.

He is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 other relief.

Ford had moved for summary judgment in the case.

The company has also filed counterclaims against Williams.

In those claims, Ford alleges that Williams improperly allowed his insurance company to dispose of evidence in the case – namely the truck involved in the accident.

Madison County Circuit Judge Dennis Ruth denied the summary judgment request on Feb. 8.

He vacated a March 21 trial date on the same day.

The suit's final pre-trial conference will take place in September.

Lon Weaver represents Williams.

Michael Borree represents Ford.

The case is Madison case number 07-L-111.
