Farm Fresh sued by distracted customer

A woman is suing a Madison County market after allegedly tripping on a floor mat.

Judy Dugan filed the negligence claim March 2 in Madison County Circuit Court against D&M Dairy Store Inc., doing busines as Farm Fresh.

Dugan says she was in the Madison County Farm Fresh store in July 2009 to buy a bag of ice. As she walked into the store, Dugan says she became distracted by the activity in the market and did not see the floor mat was bunched up.

Dugan claims she tripped on the raised floor mat and fell down. She says she hurt her knee and elbows in the fall.

Dugan accuses the store of negligence. She is asking for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses and court costs.

Attorneys Bill T. Walker of Granite City and James E. Parrot of St. Louis are representing Dugan.
