A trial involving a Troy woman whose dog allegedly caused a car accident was continued Monday in Madison County.
Plaintiff Stephanie Askew asked to continue the March 14 trial on March 10 citing the need to take doctors' depositions and on-going settlement talks.
Askew is suing Darla Lancey for damages in excess of $100,000 and costs.
Askew alleges that Lancey failed to keep her dog in her yard in November 2007 as the plaintiff drove along Lancey's property on the 600 block of Troy-O'Fallon Road.
The dog allegedly ran out into the road and struck Askew's car.
The plaintiff claims that she suffered severe injuries in the accident and that she has been unable to work.
The defendant counters that Askew failed to avoid the accident.
The trial before Madison County Chief Judge Ann Callis would have started at 9 a.m. with jury selection.
Matthew Marrison represents Askew.
Brent Salsbury represents Lancey.
The case is Madison case number 09-L-1201.
