A St. Clair County train engineer is suing his former employer, claiming a bumpy track caused him multiple injuries.
Michael Walters filed a lawsuit Feb. 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against CN/IC Railroad Corporation.
Walters says he worked for CN/IC Railroad from 1970 through June 2009 as an engineer. In January 2009, he claims he began experiencing repeated injuries to his back and neck. He blames poor track conditions, excessive vibration in the train and the slack action of the railroad cars for the alleged injuries.
Walters accuses the railroad company of negligence for failing to provide a safe work environment. He is asking for more than $50,000 in damages for medical costs, lost wages and court fees.
Attorney David R. Jones of Edwardsville is representing Walters. They are asking for a jury trial.
