A St. Clair County man is suing a local buffet, claiming part of his finger was cut off by a defective chair.
Al Futrell filed a lawsuit against Buffets Inc., doing business as Hometown Buffet, on Jan. 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
According to the complaint, the alleged injury happened at a Hometown Buffet in St. Clair County in May 2010. Futrell says his finger was pinched between the seat and the frame of his dining chair. He says the tip of his finger was cut off.
Futrell contends Hometown Buffet was negligent for failing to recognize the chair was defective and for allowing a customer to sit on it. He says the negligence is to blame for the amputation of his fingertip.
Futrell is asking for to be paid between $50,000 and $75,000 to compensate for his injuries, physical pain and mental anguish.
Attorneys Daniel J. Gauthier and Robert H. Pedroli Jr. of Clayton, Mo. are representing Futrell. They demand a jury trial.
