A Cottage Hills man blames a driver for causing injuries to the man's head, neck, shoulder and back.
Robert Watts filed a lawsuit Feb. 18 in Madison County Circuit Court against David S. Ufert.
Watts claims he rode in a vehicle heading east on East Main Street at its intersection with Broadway Street in East Alton on May 13 when Ufert, who also drove east on the same street, failed to control his speed and collided with the rear of the vehicle in which Watts rode.
In addition to his injuries, Watts experienced pain and suffering, lost wages, incurred medical costs and has been prevented from attending to his usual duties, according to the complaint.
He blames Ufert for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep his eyes on the road, drove too fast, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to exercise proper control of his vehicle.
In his complaint, Watts seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Allan L. Napp of Schrempf, Kelly, Napp and Darr in Alton will be
representing him.
Madison County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-159.
