A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims struck her after the driver failed to stop at a red light.
Tonya M. Stone claims she was driving south on Discovery Parkway preparing to turn east on Landmarks in Alton on March 12, 2009, when defendant Scott H. Stueckel, who was driving west on Discovery Parkway, failed to stop at a red light and struck her.
Because of the collision, Stone sustained serious and permanent personal injuries, incurred medical costs and suffered great pain and anguish, according to the complaint filed Feb. 18 in Madison County Circuit Court. In addition, she was hindered from her usual activities and lost wages and the use of her vehicle, the suit states.
Stueckel negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, drove too fast, failed to sound his horn, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, failed to keep a proper distance between his vehicle and Stone's and failed to obey a traffic control device, the complaint says.
In her two-count complaint, Stone is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
She will be represented by Randall P. Steele of Steele Law Offices in Glen Carbon.
