A motorcycle rider says he was injured when another driver ran a stop sign and collided with his Harley.
Shawn Menke filed a lawsuit on Jan. 19 in Madison County Circuit Court against Mia Allen.
Menke says he was driving his Harley Davidson bike north on 25th Street at the intersection of Adams Street in Granite City on Feb. 1, 2009. After proceeding through the intersection, he says he was hit by a 2006 Mazda moving southbound on Adams, which failed to stop at the stop sign located at the intersection.
Menke claims the Mazda driver, Allen, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to yield the right of way.
As a result of the collision, Menke says he was made sick and sore, suffered pain and suffering and required medical care. He also claims damages to his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
In his complaint, Menke seeks damages of $50,000 plus costs.
Alexander M. Wilson of Wilson Law Offices is representing him.
