A bus driver says he was severely injured when struck by a pickup operator running a red light at a Belleville intersection.
Patrick Tyrone O'Neal filed a lawsuit on Dec. 28, 2010 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Juan C. Arcos.
On Nov. 18, 2010, O'Neal says he was operating a bus north on East B Street at the intersection of Sherman Drive in Belleville. His suit claims Arcos was driving a Chevrolet Silverado west along the 1600 block of Sherman. When O'Neal proceeded through the green light at the intersection, he says Arcos crashed into the passenger side of the bus totally demolishing the Silverado.
O'Neal claims Arcos negligently drove too fast for conditions, failed to keep his vehicle under control and failed to yield the right of way. He further charges Arcos with failing to obey the traffic light and not keeping a proper lookout for other vehicles.
O'Neal says he suffered severe injuries to his entire body and will continue to suffer pain and discomfort. He also claims lost wages and significant medical expenses.
In his complaint, O'Neal seeks damages of a reasonable and proper amount.
Robert C. Nelson of Nelson & Nelson is representing him.
