A Bethalto commercial plumbing company is suing a contractor and an Illinois seed company that allegedly owes more than $163,000.
G.R.P Mechanical Company Inc. filed a lawsuit against Plains Construction and Development Inc. and Monsanto Company Dec. 29 in Madison County Circuit Court.
According to the complaint, Monsanto hired Plains Construction to upgrade buildings in both their Stonington and Centralia facilities.
Plains Construction, in turn, hired G.R.P. Mechanical in September 2009 to install eyewash safety showers in those buildings. G.R.P. Mechanical says it completed the job and was promised payment within 30 days of Monsanto's payment from Plains Construction. G.R.P. Mechanical alleges it has yet to receive payment and is still owed more than $163,000.
G.R.P. Mechanical is suing both companies for breach of contract and unjust enrichment. It asks to be awarded more than $213,000 in damages plus interest and court costs.
G.R.P. Mechanical is represented by attorneys Christopher W. Byron and Christopher J. Petri of Edwardsville.
