A Madison County woman has filed suit against the non-profit organization that owns the premises where the woman claims she fell over a raised concrete ledge.
Mary Conreaux claims she was visiting her husband at defendant Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George, Province St. Elizabeth, doing business as St. Clare's Hospital in Alton, when the incident occurred on Sept. 16.
"Plaintiff tripped on the aforementioned raised ledge of concrete sidewalk and fell, thereby breaking her left kneecap, her right 9th rib, and right wrist, all to her detriment and damage," the suit filed Dec. 29 in Madison County Circuit Court states.
In addition to her injuries, Conreaux suffered pain, discomfort and mental anguish and lost her normal life, according to the complaint. She also incurred medical costs and has been restricted in her usual activities, the complaint says.
The defendant negligently failed to warn Conreaux of the raised sidewalk and permitted the raised ledge of concrete, Conreaux claims.
In her complaint, Conreaux is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
S. Russell Meyer and Amy M. Meyer of Meyer Law Firm in Alton will be representing her.
