No filings in months in former employees' suit against Cahokia water district

There has been no action in seven months in a retaliatory discharge case filed against the Cahokia water district and its trustees by several former employees.

The last action in the suit brought by Peggy Pierce, Isaac Turner, Marcus Luster and Dennis Traiteur Jr. was filed in May.

There have been no filings this month.

The plaintiffs are suing the Commonfields Cahokia Public Water District and its trustees for allegedly firing them for working on the election campaigns of the trustees' opponents.

The suit claims the firings violated the plaintiffs' civil rights when they occurred last year.

The defendants have yet to file answers in the suit.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages in excess of $150,000, reinstatement to their former jobs and other relief.

Robert Sprague represents the plaintiffs.

St. Clair County Circuit Judge Robert LeChien presides.

The case is St. Clair case number 10-L-61.
