Route 143 accident in Ft. Russell Township is subject of suit

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims caused a collision.

Melinda J. Andrus claims she was driving west on Route 143, west of Sycamore Drive, in Fort Russell Township on Dec. 15, 2008, at about 9:30 a.m. when defendant Kyle E. Dickinson, who was driving east on
the same road, collided with her vehicle.

Because of the collision, Andrus sustained injuries to her head, neck, back and shoulders and was hindered and prevented from attending to her normal duties, according to the complaint filed Dec. 10 in Madison County Circuit Court. In addition, she incurred medical costs and lost money, the suit states.

Dickinson negligently failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, failed to keep his vehicle under control, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to reduce his speed when icy conditions existed, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Andrus is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000,
plus costs.

She will be represented by Bob L. Perica of The Perica Law Firm in Wood River.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-1234.
