Neck injuries claimed in Granite City accident

A woman claims she suffered injuries to her neck, shoulder and low back after a driver struck the rear of her vehicle.

Rebecca S. Lanter filed a lawsuit Dec. 6 in Madison County Circuit Court against Gary D. Taylor.

Lanter claims she drove west on Rock Road at its intersection with Illinois Route 3 in Granite City on Nov. 9 when Taylor, who also drove west on the same road, rear-ended her.

In addition to her injuries, Lanter became sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint. She also suffered disability, experienced pain and suffering, lost money and experienced an impaired future earning capacity, the suit states.

Lanter blames Taylor for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a manner that he struck the rear of Taylor's vehicle, failed to properly apply his brakes, drove too fast and followed Lanter too closely.

In her complaint, Lanter seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Thomas C. Rich and Kristina D. Cooksey of Fairview Heights will be representing her.

Madison County District Court case number: 10-L-1215.
