Alton man claims injuries in Route 3 accident

An Alton man has filed suit against a woman who he claims ran a red light and collided into his vehicle.

Ray A. Lewis II claims he was driving north on Seminary Road, trying to turn westbound onto Illinois Route 3 at a green light, when defendant Michele A. Weineke, who was driving east on Illinois Route 3, ran a red light and struck him. The suit was filed Dec. 8 in Madison County Circuit Court

Because of the accident, Lewis injured his neck, back and left wrist; hindered and prevented his usual duties; and incurred hospital costs, according to the complaint. In addition, he lost large sums of money, the suit states.

Weineke negligently failed to reduce her speed, failed to stop at a red light and failed to keep a proper lookout, the complaint says.
Lewis is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Bob L. Perica of The Perica Law Firm in Wood River will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-1224.
