A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims collided with her vehicle.
Savannah Smith claims she was driving on Wayne Avenue near its intersection with St. Clair Avenue on April 3 when defendant Malayna H. Schoeber struck her vehicle.
Because of the collision, Smith suffered injuries, was hindered from attending to her usual duties, lost wages, suffered a great deal of pain and anguish and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Dec. 2 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Schoeber negligently drove without keeping a proper lookout, drove too fast, failed to decrease her speed to avoid a collision, failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to equip her vehicle with adequate brakes and failed to sound her horn before the collision, the suit states.
In her complaint, Smith is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Mark C. Scoggins, Clay B. St. Clair and Anthony P. Gilbreth of Crowder and Scoggins in Columbia will be representing her.
Madison County District Court case number: 10-L-1206.
