Kohl's in Edwardsville sued over boy's eye injury

Steele

A mother is suing an Edwardsville department store after her son allegedly injured his eye on a clothing rack.

Angie Sizemore filed the lawsuit against Kohl's Department Stores Inc. on Nov. 29 in Madison County Circuit Court. Sizemore filed the complaint on behalf of her son who she says injured his eye in the Edwardsville Kohl's in August 2008.

Sizemore says her son was shopping in the store when he was hurt by an "exposed, sharp and non-visible pin" used to keep clothing from falling off the rack. She says her son suffered serious and permanent injuries that have kept him from his usual activities.

Sizemore is asking for more than $50,000 in damages in damages to compensate for the injury and the medical expenses she has paid.

Randall P. Steele of Steele Law Offices in Glen Carbon is representing Sizemore.
