A Wood River man is suing the driver of an SUV he was riding in for allegedly driving drunk and crashing into a house.
Brandon Johnson filed the lawsuit against Edwin M. Andrus Jr. Nov. 29 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Johnson says he was riding in the front passenger seat of Andrus' Chevrolet Suburban when it crashed in Wood River in May. Johnson claims Andrus was intoxicated and was speeding at the time of the crash.
Johnson says Andrus was driving on Wood River Avenue and attempted to turn onto Beach Avenue but lost control of the SUV and crashed into a house. Johnson says he hurt his head, neck and back in the crash.
Johnson is asking for $50,000 to cover the cost of medical bills, lost of income and attorney fees.
Attorneys Kevin A. Sullivan and Carolyn G. Caruthers of St. Louis are representing him.
