Ex-staffers' suit against Cahokia water district stalls

A suit against Commonfields Cahokia Public Water District filed by former employees is stalled in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Plaintiffs Peggy Pierce, Isaac Turner, Marcus Luster and Dennis Traiteur Jr., claim they were fired because they supported opponents of the district's current trustees during an election.

The firings occurred in 2009.

The suit names the water district as well as Marilyn Stringfellow, Carolyn Touchette, Mike Millatti and Erma Millard as defendants.

The defendants have not filed an answer to date in the case.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages in excess of $150,000, reinstatement to their former positions and other relief.

The last action in the case was a setting in May before St. Clair County Circuit Judge Robert LeChien.

The plaintiffs are represented by Robert Sprague.

The case is St. Clair case number 10-L-61.
