Damages hearing set in Rick Jones suit against homebuyer

A damages hearing in a breach of contract suit filed by former real estate tycoon Rick Jones is again set to be heard.

Jones's suit against Melissa Tucker is set for court hearing Dec. 2 at 10:30 a.m. before Madison County Associate Judge Thomas Chapman.

Jones is currently serving time in prison as part of a guilty plea he entered in a federal tax evasion case last year.

He filed the suit over a land deal that failed to materialize alleging that Tucker failed to buy a home in one of Jones' developments.

Jones won default judgment against Tucker earlier this year.

He filed another breach of contract suit against the city of Wood River over a busted land deal last year as well.

The damages hearing in the Tucker case has been pushed off several times, as recently as late September due to a service issue.

The case's docket sheet indicates that Tucker has been served since September.

Harry Sterling represents Jones in the Tucker case.

Wood River is fighting Jones's suit against it and a case management order setting that suit for a trial next year has been entered by
Madison County Circuit Judge David Hylla.

The case is case number 09-L-891.
