Woman falls from exam table, sues doctor and imaging center

A Madison County woman is suing her doctor and a mobile medical imaging center, claiming she fell during an examination.

Marjori M. Lane filed the lawsuit against SonoNet Inc., Dr. Oscar F. Florendo and Os-Bec Medical of Southern Illinois LLC on Nov. 3 in Madison County Circuit Court.

According to the lawsuit, Lane was sent to the offices of SonoNet for testing in November 2008, at the recommendation of Dr. Florendo. During the test, Lane says she was getting down from the exam table when she fell, hurting her shoulder.

Lane contends the SonoNet staff knew she had difficulties with her balance and trouble walking but failed to help her down from the examination table. Lane also claims Dr. Florendo failed to notify SonoNet of her balance and mobility issues, putting her in harm's way. The lawsuit also names Dr. Florendo's employer, Os-Bec Medical of Southern Illinois as a defendant.

Lane is suing for negligence and is asking for more than $150,000 to cover the cost of medical expenses and court fees.

Attorney Michael J. Diaz, of Greenville, is representing Lane.
