Madison and St. Clair county offices as well as the circuit courts will be closed Thursday in honor of Veterans' Day.
They will re-open at the start of normal business hours on Friday.
Veterans' Day took the place of a previous holiday also held on Nov. 11. That holiday, Armistace Day, celebrated the signing of the treaty that ended World War I.
That treaty went into effect on Nov. 11, 1918 at 11 a.m.
