Plaintiff wants to amend complaint in Ford suit over Town Car engine fire

Sivia

The plaintiff in a suit against Ford Motor Co. over an allegedly defective Lincoln Town Car engine, wants to amend his Madison County complaint.

A copy of plaintiff Danny Dawson's proposed first amended complaint is not yet available in the case file.

Dawson is seeking damages in excess of $100,000 and other relief.

His suit claims that Ford negligently manufactured flammable and defective parts that caused a 1997 Lincoln Town Car he had in his garage to burst into flames in December 2007.

The fire destroyed Dawson's garage and its contents.

Ford had tried to have the case thrown out, citing the car's age and arguing that Dawson's father was the owner at the time of the fire.

That move was rejected.

The motion asking for permission to amend the complaint is set for hearing Nov. 24 at 9 a.m.

A case management conference is set in the case for Nov. 17 at 9 a.m. as well.

Todd Sivia represents Dawson.

Michael Borree represents Ford.

Madison County Circuit Judge Andreas Matoesian presides.

The case is Madison case number 09-L-1305.
