A St. Clair County woman seeks more than $50,000 in damages after she claims she sustained injuries in a collision with a driver who rear-ended her.
Melissa K. Keller filed a lawsuit Aug. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Jodie E. Manning.
Keller claims she drove a Dodge Caravan south on Illinois State Route 3 near its intersection with North Market Street in Waterloo on Aug. 23, 2008, when Manning, who drove behind her, failed to stop and struck the back of Keller's vehicle.
Because of the accident, Keller suffered injuries to her neck, spine, shoulders and back and incurred disability and disfigurement, according to the complaint. In addition, she lost earnings, incurred medical costs and experienced pain and suffering, the suit states.
Keller blames Manning for causing her injuries, saying Manning negligently failed to maintain a proper lookout, drove too fast, failed to properly apply her brakes, failed to keep her vehicle under control, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision, drove into the back of Keller's vehicle and failed to exercise ordinary care.
In her complaint, Keller seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
John P. Kujawski of Kujawski and Associates in O'Fallon will be representing her.
