East St. Louis woman sued after allegedly hitting three pedestrians

An East St. Louis woman is being sued by the three people she allegedly hit with her car.

Darrius Martin, Teaisha Garner and Aaliyah Scott filed a lawsuit against A'lexus Cook Aug. 23 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

The alleged incident happened July 4 on South 16th Street in East St. Louis. According to the complaint, Martin was standing on the sidewalk while Garner and Scott were standing next to their car when Cook drove toward them. For unknown reasons, Cook allegedly hit all three people with her car and then drove off.

Martin, Garner and Scott say they were seriously injured. They are each seeking $50,000 in damages to cover medical expenses, lost wages and court costs.

Attorney Kevin Sullivan, of St. Louis, is representing Martin, Garner and Scott.
