A Madison County man and his wife claim the man sustained neck and back injuries while his wife sustained neck, back, right shoulder and right arm injuries after a driver rear-ended their vehicle.
Bill and Linda Watson filed a lawsuit Aug. 26 in Madison County Circuit Court against Nicole Nasello.
The Watsons claim Bill Watson stopped for traffic in the eastbound lanes of Oakwood Avenue in Alton on Aug. 28, 2008, when Nasello, who drove behind him, rear-ended him. At the time, Linda Watson rode as a passenger in the vehicle, according to the complaint.
In addition to their injuries, the Watsons suffered great pain and mental anguish, incurred medical costs and became unable to attend to his usual duties and affairs, according to the complaint. They also lost each other's consortium and society, the suit states.
The Watsons blame Nasello for causing the collision, saying she negligently drove too fast, failed to decrease her speed to avoid a collision and failed to maintain proper control of her vehicle.
In their four-count complaint, the Watsons seek a judgment of more than $200,000, plus costs.
J. Robert Edmonds of Mormino, Velloff, Edmonds and Snider in Alton will be representing them.
