A driver claims she suffered disability and disfigurement during a collision with a driver who failed to yield to her vehicle.
Kimberly D. Ripley filed a lawsuit Aug. 19 in Madison County Circuit Court against Steven M. Morgan.
Ripley claims she drove west on St. Clair Avenue in Granite City when she attempted to make a left turn on Oct. 27, 2009. Suddenly, Morgan, who drove at St. Clair Avenue's intersection with Nameoki Road, struck her, according to the complaint.
In addition to her disability and disfigurement, Ripley suffered great pain and mental anguish, lost earnings and incurred medical costs because of the collision, the suit states.
Ripley blames Morgan for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a manner as to strike her vehicle, failed to properly apply his brakes, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision and failed to yield to Ripley.
In her complaint, Ripley seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt and Tobin in East Alton will be representing her.
