Mother sues driver for injuries suffered in crash

A mother is suing a driver she says is to blame for a crash that injured her and her two children.

Jenetta L. Lohman, individually and on behalf of her two minor children, and Andrew R. Work, filed suit against Jason M. Arguello Aug. 25 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Lohman says Arguello caused a crash March 21, 2009 at the intersection of West Chain of Rocks Road and St. Thomas Road in Chouteau Township. Lohman says Arguello failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with Lohman's vehicle.

Work and Lohman's two young children, Shainne N. Smith and John P. Campbell, were passengers in the car. According to the complaint, all four suffered severe and permanent internal and external injuries, physical pain and mental anguish.

Lohman and Work say the crash was caused by Arguello's negligence and carelessness. They accuse him of failing to properly maintain control of his vehicle, failing to drive at a reasonable speed, failing to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. Arguello allegedly was without a driver's license at the time of the crash.

Lohman is seeking damages not to exceed $50,000 for injuries to herself and each of her two children. Work also is seeking damages not to exceed $50,000.

William J. Mateyka is representing Lohman and Work.
