A St. Clair County company has filed suit against American Tax Relief, alleging it paid American Tax Relief more than $50,000, but did not receive any of the promised tax breaks.
Plastic Laminate Specialty Co. claims it hired American Tax Relief in hopes that the company would relieve it of some of the taxes it was required to pay.
According to the complaint filed Aug. 10 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Plastic Laminate did not receive what it believed it should have.
"Plaintiff reasonably believes there has been misrepresentation and fraud by Defendant," the suit states.
In its complaint, Plastic Laminate claims American Tax Relief violated the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.
Plastic Laminate is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus other relief the court deems just.
Edward J. Blake Jr. of Blake and Allen in Belleville will be representing it.
