A woman claims she became sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled after falling on an oil-like substance on the floor of a grocery store.
Courtney M. Goss filed a lawsuit in St. Clair County Circuit Court against SuperValu doing business as Shop 'N Save and Wetterau doing business as Shop 'N Save.
Goss claims she entered the Shop 'N Save at 4201 North Belt West in Belleville on Aug. 16, 2008, when she slipped on the substance.
Because of the incident, Goss experienced pain, suffering and anguish and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint.
She blames the defendants for causing her fall, saying they negligently failed to maintain the floor in a safe condition, allowed an oil-like substance to remain on their floor, failed to warn of the dangerous condition and failed to exercise due care.
In her complaint, Goss seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Stephen R. Clark of Courtney, Clark and Associates in Belleville will be representing her.
