Driver and company blamed in Madison accident

A St. Clair County man claims he sustained injuries after a driver rear-ended him.

Norman Cotton filed a lawsuit Aug. 12 in Madison County Circuit Court against Robert L. Worthen and Tech Electronics.

Cotton claims he drove north on Eagle Park Road near its intersection with Route 203 in Madison on Aug. 18, 2008, when Worthen, who drove a vehicle for his employer, Tech Electronics, behind Cotton, struck him.

In addition to his injuries, Cotton suffered great pain and anguish, incurred medical costs and lost wages, according to the complaint.

He blames Worthen for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to brake to avoid a collision, failed to swerve to avoid a collision and failed to see Cotton's vehicle.

In his two-count complaint, Worthen seeks a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Ronald J. Foster Jr. of Schoen, Walton, Telken and Foster in East St. Louis will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-841.
