A woman who sustained a broken pelvic bone, a broken collar bone and a fractured nose during a collision blames a bar for allowing the allegedly intoxicated driver with whom she rode to leave and get into a single-vehicle accident.
Christina Hurley filed a lawsuit July 30 in Madison County Circuit Court against Sufian and Noor doing business as Jim's Corner.
The establishment was named in another personal injury suit filed in Madison County in July.
Hurley claims she rode with Caylin R. Sanders on Aug. 2, 2009, after Sanders had consumed intoxicating beverages at Jim's Corner.
"As a result of such intoxication, Caylin R. Sanders violently crashed and flipped her motor vehicle in which Plaintiff Christina Hurley was a passenger on College Avenue (Illinois Route 140), Alton, Madison County, Illinois," the suit states.
In addition to her broken bones, Hurley sustained injuries to her left wrist, right arm and back and a laceration to her chin during the collision, according to the complaint. She also incurred medical costs and experienced pain, suffering and disability, the complaint says.
In her suit, Hurley seeks a judgment of more than $50,000.
