A driver claims she suffered great pain and anguish after being rear-ended at a Shiloh intersection.
Ivy M. Pierson filed a lawsuit Aug. 2 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Vernon A. Glauert.
Pierson claims she drove a 1998 Honda Accord west on Frank Scott Parkway near its intersection with Greenmount Road on Aug. 18, 2008, when she stopped for a red light.
"At the date, time and location aforesaid, Defendant Vernon A. Glauert of 230 S. 2nd Street, Shiloh, Illinois, was driving a 2000 Buick LeSabre directly behind Plaintiff when he ran into the rear of Plaintiff's stopped vehicle," the suit states.
In addition to her pain and anguish, Pierson suffered injuries to her neck, back, shoulders, right foot and entire right side and incurred medical costs because of the collision, according to the complaint. In addition, she suffered internal derangement of her injured body parts and has been prevented and limited from earning money and from participating in her normal activities, the complaint says.
Pierson blames Glauert for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to see Pierson's vehicle, failed to drive at a proper speed, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision and failed to follow another vehicle at a proper distance.
In her complaint, Pierson seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Richard G. Reed of Reed and Bruhn in Belleville will be representing her.
