CC Food Mart sued over customer's slip and fall

A man claims he sustained severe and permanent injuries to his head, neck, shoulders, back, hips and left ankle after falling on a wet floor.

Dennis Fix filed a lawsuit July 27 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Wade Development Corp. and C.C. Food Marts.

Fix claims he visited C.C. Food Marts on Dec. 26, 2008, when he slipped and fell on a wet floor.

Because of his fall, Fix incurred medical costs to treat his injuries, experienced pain and suffering and lost his normal life, according to the complaint.

Fix blames the defendants for causing the accident, saying they failed to maintain their premises in a safe manner, caused the floors to be wet, allowed the floors to be wet and failed to adequately warn patrons of the wet floors, the suit states.

In his two-count complaint, Fix is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Jeffrey A. Kopis of Kopis Law Office in Belleville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-385.
