East St. Louis accident is subject of suit

An East St. Louis man claims he sustained injuries when a driver attempted to make a left-hand turn in front of him.

Joe Randolph filed a lawsuit July 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Toni Conley.

Randolph claims he drove north on 26th Street near its intersection with Missouri Avenue in East St. Louis when Conley, who drove south on 26th Street, attempted to make a left turn on Missouri Avenue and struck Randolph's vehicle instead.

Because of the collision, Randolph sustained serious and permanent injuries, suffered great pain and anguish, incurred medical costs and lost wages, according to the complaint.

He blames Conley for causing the accident, saying she failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to properly change lanes, failed to brake to avoid a collision, failed to stop to avoid a collision and failed to see Randolph's vehicle.

In his complaint, Randolph seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Ronald J. Foster Jr. of Schoen, Walton, Telken and Foster in East St. Louis will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-365.
