18 new asbestos cases filed in Madison County July 19-23

A total of 18 new asbestos lawsuits were filed in Madison County Circuit Court during the week of July 19 through July 23.

The following complaints were filed:

--Merle Barger of Pennsylvania, a laborer and machine operator at various locations from 1965 until now, claims mesothelioma. Barger will be represented by Brian J. Cooke of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-754.

--Ellen Baus of New Jersey, a nurse's aide, attendant and florist at various locations from 1950 until 2008, claims mesothelioma. Baus will be represented by Christopher R. Guinn of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-748.

--Jesse and Gerlda Case of Florida claim Jesse Case developed mesothelioma after his work as a laborer in the U.S. Navy from 1943 until 1946, as a machinist in the Machinist Union in the 1950s, as a machinist and lathe operator from 1953 until 1963 and as a machinist at Farmers Chemical from 1963 until 1982. The Cases will be represented by Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian and Associates in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-755.

--Adrian Castellanos of New Jersey, a security guard, cafeteria worker, janitor, computer repairman, laborer, paralegal, clerk, research assistant and attorney from 1986 until 1998, claims mesothelioma. Castellanos will be represented by Christopher R. Guinn of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-749.

--Deborah Chomiw of New York, a secretary and office worker from 1964 until 2005, claims mesothelioma. Chomiw will be represented by Christopher R. Guinn of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-750.

--Joseph Cross of Florida, an assistant parts manager, assembler, laborer, parts assembler and millwright at various locations from 1961 until 1989, claims lung cancer. Cross will be represented by G. Michael Stewart and Jill Price of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-757.

--Diane Fishman of New York, a student teacher, teacher, clerical, receptionist and counselor at various locations from 1969 until 2010, claims mesothelioma. Fishman will be represented by Christopher R. Guinn of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-751.

--Thomas J. Guarino and Angela Guarino of New Hampshire claims their father and husband, Thomas Anthony Guarino, developed mesothelioma after his work as a helper, trainee, ordinance man, planner and estimator for the Naval Ammunition Depot from 1946 until 1974. The Guarinos will be represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian and Associates in Edwardsville. Eric Karst of Karst and Von Oiste in Houston will serve of counsel. --Raymond D. and Bonnie Hatcher of Texas claim Raymond D. Hatcher developed mesothelioma after his work as a member of the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1952 and as a plant manager and operator from 1953 until 1987. The Hatchers will be represented by Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-769.

--Don A. and Joan Johnson of Missouri claim Don A. Johnson developed mesothelioma after his work at Ashland Oil Refinery from 1960 until 1963, at Buffalo Forge Company from 1963 until 1965, at Buffalo Force Sales Office from 1965 until 1969, at William Patent Crusher from 1969 until 1978, at Chicago Blower Corporation from 1978 until 2001 and at Dynamic Bulk Systems beginning in 2001. The Johnsons will be represented by Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-777.

--Margaret and Carl Johnson of Indiana claim Margaret Johnson developed mesothelioma after her work as a machine operator, cashier and waitress from 1969 until 2010. Margaret Johnson was also secondarily exposed to asbestos fibers through her father, who worked as a laborer at the Ford Motor Company from the 1960s until 1993. Margaret Johnson will be represented by Shane F. Hampton and Courtney Gregory of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-771.

--Joanne Martin of Washington, a clerk, laborer and lunch attendant from 1963 until 1988, claims mesothelioma. Martin was also secondarily exposed to asbestos fibers through her father, who worked as a laborer at the Hanford Site Nuclear Plant from 1943 until 1961, according to the complaint. Martin will be represented by Randy S. Cohn and Sean M. Keane of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-773.

--Jesse Quinney of Texas, a laborer and truck driver at various locations from 1956 until 2010, claims mesothelioma. Quinney will be represented by Brian J. Cooke of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-753.

--Gerald Reed of Ohio, a machine operator, steel and metal operator, steel and metal erector, plasterer, laborer, roustabout and roughneck and brick layer from 1943 until 1986, claims mesothelioma. Reed will be represented by Randy S. Cohn and Sean M. Keane of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-765.

--James Ross of Texas, a mechanic, quality control worker, construction worker, technician, inspector, laborer, maintenance, electrician and retailer from 1947 until 2007, claims adenocarcinoma. Ross will be represented by John P. Wagner of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-758.

--Vernalee Sheley of Georgia claims she developed mesothelioma after being secondarily exposed to asbestos fibers through her husband, Lawrence H. Sheley Jr., who worked as a mechanic, millwright, welder and sheetmetal worker at various locations from 1957 until 1990. Vernalee Sheley will be represented by Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-762.

--Edwin D. Strang of Tennessee, a maintenance worker from 1967 until 1969, a shop teacher from 1970 until 1986, a construction worker from 1968 until 1986 and a carpenter from 1995 until 1998, claims mesothelioma. Strang will be represented by Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-770.

--Charles Thornton of Wyoming, a mechanics helper, teacher, geologist and mud logger at various locations from 1945 until 1990, claims mesothelioma. Thornton will be represented by Randy S.
