Ladder was defective, injured man claims

A man has filed suit against the company that he says supplied him with a ladder that caused him to fall.

Charles C. Lagrone claims he was working as a warehouseman for Staff Mark at defendant Ozburn-Hessey Logistics' premises when the defendant supplied him a ladder.

"That while using the aforesaid ladder, Plaintiff, Charles C. Lagrone, was caused to fall and sustain injury," the suit filed July 15 in Madison County Circuit Court states.

Because of his fall, Lagrone suffered injuries to his neck, back, left elbow and leg and sustained great pain and mental anguish, according to the complaint. In addition, he lost wages, incurred medical expenses and endured a permanent disability leading to a diminished quality of life, the complaint says.

Lagrone blames Ozburn-Hessey for causing his injuries, saying it provided him with a broken and defective ladder, failed to warn him of the ladder and failed to inspect its ladder.

In his complaint, Lagrone is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus other relief the court deems just.

Glenn E. Bradford of Barberis and Bradford in Edwardsville will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-740.
