Bumped at the gas pump, injury suit claims

A man claims a driver hit his car while it sat parked at a gas pump.

Derrick Streeper filed a lawsuit July 9 in Madison County Circuit Court against Margaret E. Hill.

Streeper claims he parked his 2005 General Motors Sierra 4x2 truck at a gas pump at Casey's General Store in Alton on July 11 when defendant Margaret E. Hill, who drove a 2004 International Straight truck in the parking lot, struck his vehicle.

"That on said date and time, the defendant, Margaret E. Hill, was operating her vehicle south around said fuel pumps, and improperly turned causing her vehicle to strike plaintiff's vehicle," the suit states.

Because of the collision, Streeper sustained injuries to his neck, back, shoulders and body; incurred medical costs; has been prevented from attending to his normal duties and affairs; sustained property damage; and lost wages, the complaint says.

Streeper is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

William E. Miller III of Alton will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-729.
