Jersey County man seeks $2 million in auto accident case

A Jersey County man seeks a judgment of no more than $2.03 million after he says an intoxicated driver struck him.

Girard L. Dion filed a lawsuit June 22 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against the 17 defendants who he says allowed the driver to consume alcohol while on their premises.

Dion claims the accident occurred on July 21, 2009, when Michael P. Quirk, who drove a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis south on Illinois Route 3 about 192 feet north of Timber Ridge Lane in Elsah Township in Jersey County, caused his vehicle to collide with Dion's. At the time of the accident, Quirk was intoxicated, according to the complaint.

Dion does not provide further details about how the accident occurred, but does say he sustained severe and permanent injuries, suffered great pain and anguish, incurred medical costs, lost wages and experienced a damaged earning capacity because of the collision.

He names Relmss Services, VGC Holdings, PT's, PT's Brooklyn, Platinum of Illinois, Michael Ocello, North County Grocer and Liquor, Ola Dodolewa, Sam Patel, Lucky Singh, Nitin Singh, Salas Investments, Adodo, Riverview Liquor, Shanta, Shivam Enterprise and Platinum of Illinois as defendants. Dion claims all the defendants either supplied Quirk with alcohol or allowed the drinking of alcohol on their premises.

In his 27-count complaint, Dion seeks a judgment of no more than $2,025,000.

Patrick G. Johnston and Benjamin T. Stephens of Johnston Law Offices in Edwardsville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-307.
