A Fairview Heights man has filed suit against the driver who he claims caused a collision while he was riding with the driver.
Christopher Reeb claims he was riding in a vehicle defendant Mike J. Reinhardt was driving south on Illinois Route 160 near its intersection with Country Lakes Drive on June 24, 2008, when defendant Dylan T. Mueth, who was driving north on Illinois Route 160, collided with the vehicle in which Reeb was riding.
Because of the collision, Reeb sustained severe and permanently disabling injuries to his head, forehead, nose, jaw, left leg and other portions of his body; sustained great pain and mental anguish; lost money because of his inability to pursue a normal occupation; suffered disability and disfigurement; and incurred hospital costs, according to the complaint filed June 18 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Reeb partially blames Mueth for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast, failed to yield to other vehicles, attempted to make a turn when it was not safe to do so, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, failed to maintain his proper lane of travel and failed to signal his intention to make a left-hand turn.
In addition, Reeb names Reinhardt as a defendant, saying Reinhardt failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, drove too fast, failed to maintain his lane of traffic and failed to reduce his speed to avoid an accident.
In his two-count complaint, Reeb is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
Gregory M. Skinner of Belleville will be representing him.
