Woman claims injuries in Albers accident

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she says crossed the center of the road and struck her vehicle.

Regina Lowery claims she was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala east on Illinois 161 in Albers on Aug. 4, 2008, when defendant Chad Ross, who was driving a 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck hauling a trailer west on the same road, caused the trailer to cross the center of the road and to strike the Impala.

Because of the collision, Lowery became sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; received injuries to her head, back, neck and right shoulder; incurred medical costs; suffered disability; lost her normal life; experienced pain and suffering; and lost wages, according to the complaint filed May 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Ross negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control and drove across the center of the road, the suit states.

In her complaint, Lowery is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

David C. Nelson of Nelson and Nelson in Belleville will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-248.
