A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims ran a stop sign and collided with her.
Chelsea A. Zoeller claims she was driving west on Water Street near Short Street in Sugarloaf Township on Nov. 1, 2008, when defendant Joel M. Veres ran a stop sign and turned into her path, colliding with her vehicle.
Because of the collision, Zoeller was forcefully and violently tossed within her vehicle, sustained injuries, suffered pain, incurred medical costs, lost wages and suffered a damaged earning capacity, according to the complaint filed June 1 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Veres negligently failed to maintain a proper lookout, drove too fast, drove without adequate brakes, failed to apply his brakes, failed to have his vehicle equipped with a working horn, failed to yield the right of way to other vehicles, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to bring his vehicle to a complete stop, allegedly drove while under the influence of alcoholic beverages, turned into an intersection in an unsafe manner and failed to signal his intention to turn.
In her complaint, Zoeller is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Chris Kolker will be representing her.
