A woman claims she sustained injuries to her neck, back, head, mouth, face and shoulders after a driver struck her Nissan Maxima.
Carolyn P. Steed claims she drove a 1998 Nissan Maxima north on Frank Scott Parkway near its intersection with Concordia Church Road in Stookey Township on June 11, 2009, when defendant Michelle T. Huettner, who drove a 2002 Pontiac Firebird east on Concordia Church Road, struck Steed's Maxima.
In addition to her injuries, Steed incurred medical costs and sustained great pain and mental anguish because of the collision, according to the complaint filed May 21 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
She blames Huettner for causing the accident, saying she negligently failed to keep her vehicle under control, failed to take evasive action to avoid a collision, failed to maintain a proper lookout, failed to apply her brakes, failed to stop at a stop sign, entered an intersection when it could not be safely done, failed to yield the right-of-way to Steed's vehicle, drove in an unsafe manner and failed to slow down to avoid a collision.
In her complaint, Steed seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Christina M. Sugden of Katzman and Associates in Belleville will be representing her.
