A woman has filed a complaint against the driver who she claims rear-ended her after failing to stop at a red light.
Carla J. Diep claims she was driving west on West Highway 50 in O'Fallon on June 24, 2008, when she stopped for a red traffic light at the highway's intersection with Old Collinsville Road. Suddenly, defendant David A. Greenfield, who was driving in the same lane as Diep, struck the rear of Deip's vehicle, according to the complaint filed June 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Because of the collision, Diep suffered severe and permanent injuries to her neck, the base of her skull and her body; experienced physical pain and suffering; and incurred medical costs, the suit states.
Greenfield negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to slow and stop his vehicle to avoid a collision with Diep's and drove his vehicle under the influence of drugs, the complaint says.
In her complaint, Diep is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
She will be represented by Stephen M. Kernan of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin.
