A woman claims she sustained severe injuries after a driver rear-ended her vehicle.
Valerie Taylor filed a lawsuit June 4 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Shateria Burgess.
Taylor claims she drove her 1992 Honda Accord east on west Highway 50 in O'Fallon on June 9, 2008, when Burgess, who drove a 2000 Nissan Altima in the same direction, struck her from behind.
In addition to her severe injuries, Taylor incurred permanent pain, mental anguish, disability and disfigurement; has become prevented from attending to her usual duties and affairs; lost wages; and incurred property and medical expenses because of the collision, according to the complaint.
She blames Burgess for causing the accident, saying she failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep proper control over her vehicle and struck her vehicle.
In her complaint, Taylor seeks a judgment of more than $75,000, plus costs.
Samantha S. Unsell of Thomas Q. Keefe Jr. in Belleville will be representing her.
