A St. Clair County woman claims she was tossed from a motorcycle after a driver failed to obey a traffic control device.
Kathy D. Manno filed a lawsuit June 4 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Deanna L. Haas.
Kathy Manno claims she rode as a passenger on a motorcycle Scott Manno drove east on Ashland Avenue at its intersection with Joseph Drive in Fairview Heights on March 8, 2009, when Haas, who drove north on Joseph Drive, failed to bring her vehicle to a complete stop at a stop sign and collided with the motorcycle.
Because of the accident, Kathy Manno was tossed from the motorcycle, sustained injuries, suffered pain, incurred medical costs, lost her earnings and suffered damage to her earning capacity, according to the complaint.
She blames Haas for causing the accident, saying she negligently drove in such a manner as to cause Manno injury, failed to maintain a proper lookout, drove too fast, drove without adequate brakes, failed to apply her brakes, failed to have a properly working horn, failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision and failed to bring her vehicle to a complete stop at a stop sign.
In her complaint, Kathy Manno seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Chris Kolker of Kolker Law Offices in Belleville will be representing her.
