Granite City accident is subject of suit

A man has filed suit against the driver who he claims struck his vehicle.

John J. Kudelka III claims he was driving north on Madison Avenue in Granite City on June 3, 2009, when defendant Gladys J. Lamb, who was driving south on the same road, struck him.

Because of the accident, Kudelka sustained severe and permanent injuries, was hindered from attending to his usual affairs and duties, lost the value of his time, suffered great pain and anguish and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed May 26 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Lamb negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to see and observe Kudelka's vehicle, failed to decrease her speed to avoid a collision and failed to stop in time to avoid a collision, the suit states.

In his complaint, Kudelka is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Benjamin B. Tobin of Pratt and Tobin in East Alton will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-566.
